Pool Table Moving and Setup Service

A slate pool table cannot be picked up and carried. It weighs seven hundred to a thousand pounds, the playing surface is one to three slabs of slate bolted to a frame, and tilting it while it is together cracks slate and racks the cabinet. It comes apart, travels in pieces, and goes back together level. That is the whole job, and it is why a pool table is a separate booking from the rest of your move.

We move and rebuild slate and non-slate tables from Brunswick, Olhausen, Valley, Diamond, Connelly, American Heritage and the rest. Pockets and rails off, cloth lifted where it has to be, slate unbolted and carried out piece by piece, then the whole thing reassembled, shimmed and leveled in the new room before we leave.

What's Included

Everything Included in Our Service

Taken apart properly, moved in pieces, and leveled before we go.

Taken Apart, Not Tipped

Pockets, rails and slate come off in order and the hardware is bagged and labeled, so it goes back together the way it came apart.

Slate Carried in Pieces

Each slab is unbolted, padded and carried out on its own. Nothing is dragged, tipped or walked across a floor on its legs.

Leveled Before We Leave

Frame set, slate seated and shimmed, and the surface checked with a level across the table so the balls run true.

Hardware Bagged and Labeled

Bolts, washers, pocket irons and rail hardware kept together and handed back with the table, not loose in a box.

Pool Table Moving

Moving a Pool Table to a New Home

Whether it is going across town or across the street, the table comes apart first. We book it as its own visit, or add it to a move we are already doing for you, and the crew brings the wrenches, pads and dollies the job actually needs.

  • 3-piece and 1-piece slate tables, and lighter non-slate tables, in 7, 8 and 9 foot sizes
  • Brunswick, Olhausen, Valley, Diamond, Connelly, American Heritage, Gandy and older no-name tables
  • Stairs, basements, and tight turns planned before the slate comes off, not discovered halfway
  • Rebuilt, shimmed and leveled at the other end, with the hardware that came off your table

How a Pool Table Move Goes

1

Tell us the table

Size (7, 8 or 9 foot), the brand if you know it, and whether the slate is one piece or three. A photo of the table and the stairs at both ends helps.

2

One flat price

You get the price before we come out. One price for taking it apart, moving it and setting it back up.

3

Apart and out

Pockets, rails and slate off in order, hardware bagged and labeled, each slab padded and carried out separately.

4

Rebuilt and leveled

Frame set in the new room, slate seated, shimmed and leveled across the surface, rails and pockets back on.

Setup & Installation

Pool Table Setup and Installation

Bought a table and had it dropped in the garage in pieces? Setup is the same craft as the back half of a move: the frame has to sit square and solid, the slate has to seat flat and get shimmed until it is level in every direction, and the rails have to go on tight or the bounce is wrong. We set up tables people bought new, used, or off Marketplace.

Leveled across the surface

Slate seated and shimmed, then checked with a level in both directions and diagonally, so the balls do not drift.

Rails, pockets and trim

Rail bolts brought up evenly, pockets hung, trim and skirts fitted, and the table wiped down before we go.

Tables you bought used

Picked up from the seller and set up at your place in one trip, if you want the pickup handled too.

Send us the brand and size and we will confirm it is one we set up, and quote it.

Disassembly Only

Pool Table Disassembly Service

Sometimes the table just needs to come apart: you are selling it, storing it, having the room carpeted, or the buyer is collecting it. We take it down properly and leave it stacked and labeled, ready to load.

Stacked and labeled

Slate stacked flat on padding, rails and legs together, every bolt bagged and marked so whoever rebuilds it is not guessing.

Carried out or left in place

We can carry the pieces out to a truck or garage, or leave them where they are for the buyer to collect.

Going into storage

Slate padded and stacked flat, never on edge, which is how slate gets cracked in a storage unit.

Tell us the size and where the pieces need to end up and we will quote the take-down on its own.

Same Room, New Spot

Moving a Pool Table Across the Room

Putting in carpet, refinishing the floor, or the table is simply in the wrong place. A table cannot be shoved across a room on its legs without racking the frame and knocking the slate out of level, so the honest answer is that it comes apart even for a ten-foot move, then goes back together and gets releveled.

A few feet or a few rooms

Same visit, apart and back together, leveled in the new spot.

For new carpet or flooring

We take it apart before the floor crew arrives and come back to rebuild it once the floor is down.

Releveled every time

Any move, however short, ends with the slate shimmed and checked level again.

Tell us the room and the date the floor is going in and we will book both visits.

Fastest Path to a Quote

Get your quote back the same day

Tell us the size, the brand, and whether there are stairs at either end, and we will reply with an exact flat price, usually the same day.

FAQ

Pool Table Moving Questions Answered

No, and nobody should. A slate table tilted or dragged while assembled cracks slate, racks the frame and tears cloth, and the damage usually shows up as a table that will not level afterwards. Every slate table we move comes apart first, even for a move across the same room.
A straightforward 8-foot 3-piece slate table is usually a half day door to door: about an hour to take down, the drive, then two to three hours to rebuild and level. Stairs at either end, a 9-foot table or a one-piece slate add time.
Always. The frame is set, the slate seated and shimmed, and the surface checked with a level lengthwise, across and diagonally. A table that is not level is not finished.
Yes. Disassembly on its own, with the slate stacked flat on padding, the rails and legs together, and every bolt bagged and labeled, ready for storage, a sale or a buyer collecting it.
Yes. Slate comes down in individual slabs and that is what makes stairs possible at all. Tell us about the stairs and turns when you ask for the price so the right gear is on the truck.
Brunswick, Olhausen, Valley, Diamond, Connelly, American Heritage, Gandy, and plenty of older tables with no badge left. The brand mostly tells us how the rails and slate are fastened, which we work out on site anyway.
Yes. New, used, or bought off Marketplace. We can pick it up from the seller and set it up at your place in one trip if you want that handled too.
Flat rate per table, quoted the same day. It depends on the size, whether the slate is one piece or three, and the stairs and access at both ends. See what decides the price on our assembly and mounting price page.
