What Determines Furniture Hoisting Cost
There is no flat menu for hoisting because no two openings are the same. These are the factors we actually use when we quote, in the order they matter.
How high it goes
Ground to second floor is a rope-and-strap job. Third floor and above usually means the material lift. Every floor adds setup time and rigging, so height is the single biggest factor.
Weight and size of the item
A sofa and a dresser are routine. A sectional, an armoire, a safe or a hot tub need more crew, heavier straps and sometimes a second rig. Tell us the item and rough dimensions and we size the job to it.
Balcony or window
A balcony with a rail we can clear is the easy case. A window means removing the sash, sometimes the frame, and protecting the opening. Windows cost more time than balconies, not more risk.
Crew size
Two movers handle most residential hoists. Heavy or awkward pieces, or anything above the third floor, take three. We quote the crew the job needs rather than the smallest one that might work.
Lift versus rope rigging
Rope and strap rigging is faster to set up and covers most jobs. A material lift is used for height, weight or when there is no safe anchor point. The equipment is part of the price, never a surprise add-on.
Hoist only, or hoist plus move
A hoist by itself is one price. Hoisting as part of a full move, or a delivery pickup that ends with a hoist, is priced as one job so you are not paying two minimums.

Three Real Jobs
Low, Middle and Top of the Range
Same service, very different jobs. Find the one closest to yours and you already know roughly where your quote lands.
A sofa to a 2nd-floor balcony
The most common job. Two movers, rope-and-strap rigging, the item wrapped and padded, over the rail and in. Setup and lift usually fit inside an hour. This is the low end of the range.
A queen mattress and dresser through a 3rd-floor window
Height puts this on the material lift, the window means the sash comes out and the frame gets protected, and two items means two lifts. Three movers, longer setup. Solidly mid-range.
A hot tub or safe to an upper deck
Weight is the driver. Heavier rigging, a bigger crew, sometimes a spotter on the ground and a second anchor. These are the jobs we insist on seeing photos of first, and they sit at the top of the range.
How we turn your photos into a price
Two photos, one of the opening and one of the item, tell us the floor, the type of opening, the size and most of the weight. From those we decide rigging or lift, crew of two or three, and whether anything on the window needs to come out. That is the whole quote, and it is why we can send an exact number back in about thirty minutes instead of asking twenty questions.
The number we send is the number you pay. There is no hourly clock on a hoist, no equipment surcharge and no insurance line item. If a job turns out to need something we could not see in the photos, we tell you before we start, not on the invoice.
